Hiss of Death by Rita Mae Brown

Cats,  Mrs. Murphy and Pewter, and Corgi, Tucker, are busy keeping their human, Mary Minor “Harry” Haristeen, entertained, and more importantly, safe.  All is well until a routine physical uncovers a potentially deadly health issue.  While dealing with her own crisis people Harry knows are being murdered.

Other than knowing Harry and working in the medical field the victims seem to have little in common.  Harry is determined to find the link that unites these murders.  This makes her animal family nervous because she tends to get into trouble when on the hunt to solve a mystery.  Harry may die, not because of her compromised health, but at the hands of someone she knows.

While Harry investigates her faithful pets follow where she goes in the hope they can keep her alive.
